Have you ever thought of asking friends and family for support in caring for your family member/friend with dementia? Did their help allow you to have a rest, attend an appointment, catch-up with friends, attend a support group, etc?

You may not have thought of this type of support as ‘respite’, however it can be if the time allows you to do something for yourself. Also, the person with support may benefit from this type of respite because they get to spend time with a family member or friend.

What are your thoughts about informal respite?
